Corrugator Supervisor

Employment Type: Full-time Regular

Position Overview

The Corrugator Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality board products. Reporting directly to the Plant Superintendent/Plant Manager, this position oversees a team of approximately 10 employees, promoting a productive work environment while minimizing waste and maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality & Production:
    • Uphold and communicate quality, efficiency, and production standards as defined by management.
    • Identify and report quality concerns to the Corrugator and Plant Superintendent. Assist in setting quality guidelines.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Foster a positive team culture by demonstrating fairness, consistency, and a commitment to employee well-being.
    • Maintain confidentiality while addressing employee concerns.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Manage inventory levels for roll stock and corrugator supplies.
    • Collaborate with supervisors and the Maintenance Superintendent on repairs or preventive maintenance.
  • Training & Communication:
    • Conduct weekly production and safety meetings with team members.
    • Cross-train employees for key roles to enhance operational flexibility.
  • Policy Adherence:
    • Enforce company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and housekeeping standards.
    • Actively support the company’s safety program and initiatives.
  • Other Duties:
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

 Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manage all department employees, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Training and development of staff.
    • Planning, assigning, and overseeing work.
    • Evaluating performance and implementing rewards or corrective actions as needed.
    • Resolving conflicts, fostering teamwork, and addressing employee concerns.
    • Leading by example through superior behavior, attitude, and performance.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the corrugated industry.
    • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, and technical documents.
    • Proficient in writing reports and delivering presentations to employees and customers.
    • Skilled in using tape measures and performing calculations related to percentages, measurements, volumes, and rates.
    • Proven problem-solving abilities in standardized work environments.
    • Knowledge of equipment design, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequent use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and wet/humid conditions is regular.
  • Occasionally exposed to heights, airborne particles, fumes, or vibrations.
  • The work environment is typically loud.
