Production Supervisor
to lead our manufacturing operations in a steel fabrication environment. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring production is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining the highest standards of quality and employee engagement. The Production Supervisor will oversee daily operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and develop a high-performing production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and direct all production activities during the assigned shift to meet production schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives.
- Lead a team of 30+ production employees, providing coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
- Develop and assign daily work schedules based on production requirements, staffing levels, and employee strengths.
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor by providing hands-on support and resolving operational issues in real time.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures while promoting a culture of workplace safety.
- Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, and operational excellence (OPEX) programs.
- Lead daily tier meetings and employee training sessions to communicate production goals, safety updates, and operational priorities.
- Minimize scrap and rework through process improvements and adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure efficient material flow, proper equipment utilization, and effective production methods.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Enforce company policies and procedures while addressing employee performance through coaching and disciplinary action when necessary.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and other departments to maximize production performance and resolve operational challenges.
Qualifications
- Minimum
5 years of supervisory experience
in a steel manufacturing or steel fabrication environment.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience
in steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success leading teams of 30 or more employees.
- Proven experience implementing
Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization initiatives.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with the capacity to prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and respond with urgency to changing production needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Experience with warehouse or pallet
racking systems
is preferred.
