Job Overview:

A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Production Scheduler to join its operations team. This position plays a key role in coordinating production schedules, material availability, supplier activity, and customer requirements to support on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in production scheduling or materials planning within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is comfortable balancing changing priorities, capacity constraints, material availability, and customer deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, capacity, and operational requirements.
  • Create and manage work orders through an MRP/ERP system using forecasts and customer orders.
  • Sequence production to optimize tooling setups, changeovers, materials, equipment, and available work centers.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, engineering, purchasing, and other internal departments to address scheduling issues and production constraints.
  • Lead daily production scheduling discussions and communicate priority requirements.
  • Monitor material availability and supplier delivery performance to support production requirements.
  • Establish and maintain planning parameters including lot sizes, minimum order quantities, lead times, reorder points, and purchasing/vendor information.
  • Expedite supplier deliveries when necessary to prevent production interruptions or customer delays.
  • Maintain supplier portals and assist with customer EDI and order-entry requirements.
  • Work with operations and planning personnel to forecast production needs and resolve competing priorities involving labor, materials, and customer deadlines.
  • Assist with purchasing activities, including preparing and updating purchase orders as needed.
  • Participate in physical inventory activities and support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of production scheduling, materials planning, or related production control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, material availability, capacity, lead times, and customer delivery requirements.
  • Experience in a high-volume or highly structured manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with customer EDI systems and supplier/customer portals is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound scheduling decisions with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Compensation

$68,000–$95,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
