YOU

As Production Process Supervisor, Heat Treat and Coatings, you will be responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations within our Heat Treat and Coatings department. This position is responsible for supervising production team members, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and maintaining efficient and cost-effective operations across your shift. You will bring a strong foundation in team leadership and continuous improvement methodologies, along with the ability to help develop and implement effective heat treatment and coating processes. This position will also be required to serve as a working supervisor during times when team members are out, such as during vacations, unplanned absences, or staffing shortages—by stepping in to directly support production activities as needed.

For the night shift, there will be C Shift and D Shift:

  • C Shift: 5:00pm – 5:30am (12-hour shifts)
    • Work Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday – 48 Hours (off Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)
  • D Shift: 5:00pm – 5:30am (12-hour shifts)
    • Work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 36 Hours (off Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday)

The schedule alternates weekly:

  • One week, C Shift works the days that D Shift has off, and vice versa.
  • The following week, the shifts flip, with D Shift working the days that C Shift worked the previous week.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

You will be responsible for overseeing daily production and process operations, leading and developing team members, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency across all shifts.

Production & Process Oversight (45%)

  • Supervise day-to-day production activities and provide clear directions to team members.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet internal and external specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
  • Maintain equipment safety and ensure team members follow all safety guidelines.

Leadership & Communication (45%)

  • Lead, coach, and train production staff; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to resolve production issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Stay up to date on product specifications, technology, and manufacturing best practices.

Continuous Improvement (10%)

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and 6S initiatives across production areas.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving and process improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct time studies and maintain accurate labor and machine standards.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • 5 years’ experience in Leadership and/or Management role, required.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with heat treatment processes, preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 6S principles.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 Quality Systems and compliance practices.
  • Basic understanding of PLC or HMI software preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-Management: Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Team Player: Demonstrated ability to motivate and work with team members. Must be able to connect, interface, and communicate well with a variety of internal partners in operations, quality, planning, maintenance and engineering.
  • Requires operations experience in lean manufacturing with demonstrated success leading/operating efficiency improvements, required.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Reading / Comprehension/ Speaking / Writing: Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, process specifications, budgets, quality work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
  • Analysis / Reasoning: Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly work around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires <5% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is in Gallatin, TN

RELOCATION

Relocation is available to an appropriate candidate.

PAY

$65,200 - $104,300
