Job Title:            Production Planner        

Reports to:        Manufacturing Plant Manager

 

Job Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for managing production information using various software programs and spreadsheets. This position will utilize Material Resource Planning (MRP) software for purchasing, inventory, and job order processing.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain a customer-focused approach to all job duties.
  • Develop and manage production information with spreadsheet software (Excel) and data management tools (Labr-Trak).
  • Use the job operations status report to make sure labor was reported, materials are issued correctly, and close completed jobs.
  • Utilize MRP software (Syteline) for purchasing, inventory management, and job order processing.
  • Perform various production control activities including gathering and filling records.
  • Conduct structured and accurate physical inventory throughout the manufacturing facility and maintain accurate material inventory records.
  • Assist with correcting cycle count discrepancies, correct negative inventory items, and fix root cause issues.
  • Place purchase orders for production materials and expedite delivery as needed.
  • Assist with time and material studies based on efficiencies and material issues.
  • Participate in lean practices such as 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvements, value stream mapping and visual controls.
  • Shipping and receiving support, as needed.
  • Provide back-up support for the administrative assistant through daily front desk support and additional coverage as required.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as necessary.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively work with material and resource planning systems, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Capacity to think critically, analyze, and track details/data and make competent decisions based on those details/data.

Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of general business administration that is normally acquired by the completion of a high school diploma, Business Administration certificate, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with work order processing and MRP systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
  • Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects occasionally.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects occasionally.
  • Work is typically performed in an office environment though certain tasks/projects may occur outside or in a manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.
