Production Operator I – Cable Assembly
1st Shift: 6 AM-3:30 PM (M-F)
2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 1:AM (M-F)
$17-$18hr
Overview
The Production Operator I supports manufacturing operations by assembling, inspecting, and testing coaxial cable assemblies and connectors. This role focuses on precision, quality, and adherence to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow assembly instructions, drawings, and work orders
- Assemble small components to MIL-spec and industry standards
- Operate equipment such as crimping, stripping, coiling, and testing machines
- Perform hand assembly using tools including presses and heat guns
- Use measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify specifications
- Conduct basic testing (continuity testers, network analyzers, etc.)
- Record production data, measurements, and quality results accurately
- Track labor using internal systems
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report equipment issues
- Work collaboratively in a team environment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of cable assembly and/or soldering experience
- Ability to read prints and follow technical instructions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy
- Basic computer skills for data entry and time tracking
- Ability to distinguish colors (quality requirements)
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent hand dexterity for small component assembly
- Understanding of measurements, tolerances, and quality standards
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work with engineering teams on new products/processes
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment
- Frequent standing, sitting, and repetitive hand movements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and move materials as needed
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
