Job Overview:

Job Summary

The Production Operator II is responsible for advanced operation of production machinery, performing in-process quality checks, and supporting minor equipment troubleshooting. This role works both independently and as a senior contributor within the assembly team to ensure efficient workflow, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Operator II may train new operators on basic tasks, assist in changeovers, and resolve routine production issues with minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently operate multiple types of assembly, labeling, filling, and blister machinery
  • Perform intermediate machine adjustments, setups, and troubleshooting to maintain efficient line operation.
  • Assist with equipment changeovers and ensure materials are correctly set up for production.
  • Conduct in-process quality inspections and document findings according to SOP and QA guidelines.
  • Escalate machinery or material issues, while providing initial diagnostics to support maintenance or engineering.
  • Mentor and train new or less experienced operators on standard work practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workflow and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Maintain accurate records in Redzone for production data, material usage, and downtime events.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning, minor maintenance, and ensure work areas remain audit ready.
  • Adhere to all safety, GMP, and SOP requirements, including proper PPE usage.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of manufacturing experience, or demonstrated equivalent technical capability
  • Previous experience operating multiple types of production equipment preferred.

Skills and Proficiencies

  • Ability to use a hand pallet jack to transport pallets containing product.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English. 
  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting basic production machinery.
  • Strong understanding of SOPs, quality procedures, and production workflows.
  • Able to train and guide junior operators.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional interactions.
  • Proficient with basic computer systems and data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to shifting production needs.
  • Able to lift, stand, and perform physical labor as required.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends, as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Capable of standing for extended periods, up to 90% of an 8-hour shift. 
  • Able to lift weights of up to 25 lbs. repeatedly, with occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a lab coat, eye protection, ear protection, and hair net. 
  • Exposed to moderate to loud levels of noise.
  • Can tolerate strong odors present in the production facility.
