**Summary/Objective
**
The
Production & Operations
Supervisor-2nd Shift is responsible for overseeing the production and operational employees on second shift. They will oversee multiple work centers within the facility, providing higher-level leadership while ensuring that production goals, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on involvement, collaborating with cross-functional departments and mentoring leads and team members. The Second Shift Supervisor focuses on optimizing operational efficiency and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet evolving business demands by partnering with other departments and peers, such as the Production Supervisor and the Operations Supervisor on first shift. This role will report directly to the Sr. Plant Manager.

**Essential Functions
**

Lead and supervise the daily activities of multiple production work centers, ensuring that both personal and team production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met by setting clear goals and expectations to the team.
Provide first-line supervision, guiding, mentoring, and offering feedback to Production Leads and team members to maintain high levels of productivity and morale, administering recognition and disciplinary actions as needed.
Collaborate with the Sr. Plant Manager to implement process improvements and ensure both the team and individual members optimize operational efficiency.
Ensure proper machine setup, calibration, and maintenance, overseeing team members' performance to troubleshoot issues and minimize downtime.
Conduct routine inspections of workstations, products, and equipment, ensuring alignment with company quality standards and safety protocols.
Facilitate the smooth movement of products and materials through the production process, acting as a liaison between departments to meet production goals.
Document daily production activities, including machine performance, part quality, and material usage in ERP systems for accurate tracking and reporting.
Promote and enforce compliance with all safety protocols, ensuring the team uses personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintains a clean, organized workspace in accordance with 5S methodologies.
Manage the hiring and training of employees, working closely with the Sr. Plant Manager and Human Resources to request, approve and plan for a successful onboarding and retention strategy.
Monitor work schedules, adjust team workflows, and manage resources to meet production deadlines and adapt to business demands.
Assist in troubleshooting complex production issues and implement long-term solutions to minimize future occurrences.
Operate machinery, perform production processes, or assist with hands-on manufacturing activities as needed to support operational demands, staffing coverage, training, and workflow continuity.

**Work Environment and Physical Demands
**
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds and seldom lifting to 75lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, and steel toed work boots or shoes.

**Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
**
**This is a full-time position at 40+ hours per week. Days and hours of work will be determined by management. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday eight (8) hours per day. Occasional overtime, evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands.

**Compensation
**
Our current hiring pay range for this position is $32.00-$40.00 per hour. This hiring pay range is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, work experience, knowledge, skills and certifications.
In addition to this base pay, Rockford Ball Screw employees are eligible for a bonus. Depending on your position you may be categorized into different tiers in the quarterly or annual bonus plan. Currently, this position is classified as a Quarterly Bonus within the Individual Contributor tier.Benefits

**Required Education and Experience
**
Must be 18 years or older.
High School Diploma/GED equivalent or significant relevant work experience.
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, such as in a production.
Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage multiple work centers or departments.
Intermediate level of computer literacy, specifically Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, gages, etc.
Ability to read/write, perform intermediate arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Language: English. Fluent and well-spoken with excellent technical writing skills.
**Preferred Education and Experience
**
Strong understanding of quality control, safety protocols, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Proficiency with ERP systems for production tracking and reporting.
2+ years in a supervisory or leadership position in a manufacturing environment.
Certification in a related field or experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
