Job Overview:

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a Production Operations Supervisor to supervise production personnel and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or other functional area and is responsible for day-to-day operational functions, ensuring accuracy of operations, continuous flow process, quality assurance, effective and efficient productivity, continuous improvement and departmental achievement towards established goals and deadlines. This leader will be responsible for supervising production personnel and providing training in the operation of using various methods, tools, equipment, and technology to achieve 100% accuracy in yield control at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates changeovers with Shift Manager.
  • Reviews operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems to ensure plant operates at optimum efficiency.
  • Monitors production output against standards for units produced, product quality, labor cost, employee safety, raw material yields and cost control in conformance with established standards.
  • Monitors production lines to correct machine settings for optimum performance while conforming to product Manufacturing Standard Practices (MSPs).
  • Maintains knowledge of plant quality control, relying on current data and materials usage, technological processes, and industry literature.

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing operations, management, environmental science, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the position.
  • 3 years’ relevant production work experience in the manufacturing industry; food processing experience required.
  • 1 years’ experience supervising a large group of employees, preferably in a union environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

 

Compensation: 

The salary range is $68,700 - $74,500, based on experience and qualifications.
