Job Overview:

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Under the direction of the VP of Manufacturing, oversees the plant production operations to meet the production schedules while maintaining high-quality products in a cost-efficient manner.  Manages warehousing, shipping, and receiving.  Directs and coordinates activities of all departments through subordinate supervision.  Responsible for production quality, quantity, methods, and personnel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

An essential job duty of this position is regularly reporting to work on time and being able to perform the essential duties of the position.

  • Meet production and shipping schedules as well as product quality specifications.

 

  • Work with other areas to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

 

  • Ensure consistency with applications of company policies and procedures through supervision of subordinates.

 

  • Establish standards of performance, measure results, analyze workflow and troubleshoot problems.  

 

  • Monitor employee training to assure safety in operations and quality compliance.

 

  • Ensure all production records are accurate and complete on a timely basis.

 

  • Monitor efficiencies while continually making improvements for greater efficiency in operations.

 

  • Make recommendations concerning improvements to policy, procedures, techniques, facilities, and other matters relative to plant effectiveness.

 

  • Establish and maintain a cooperative environment with production employees and union representatives.

 

  • Provide proper direction, training, and mentoring to subordinate supervisors.

 

  • Maintain distinctive quality/food safety operational standards.

 

  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments including Maintenance, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Finance, Purchasing/Customer Service, Sales, and USDA.

 

  • Serve as backup for others in the event of vacations and other absences.

 

  • Overnight travel.

 

  • Accept special projects and completes them promptly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of a bachelor’s degree 

Experience or Training:  5–7 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment or the equivalent. 5 years of supervisory experience. High level of organizational and communication skills with the ability to motivate and direct people.  Experience in conflict resolution and experience working in a union environment.

Technology/Equipment: Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook)..

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Technology/Equipment: Experience with an ERP system

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Much of the work for this position is performed in an office environment, however, there may be exposure to production areas requiring the use of PPE, uniform or protective clothing, and safety equipment.
