Job Description

As Production Manager, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining numerous production-related tasks associated with the filling and packaging of products to create intermediates and finished goods. In this role, you need to oversee the creation and following of standard operating procedures throughout the Production process and to evaluate process effectiveness making changes/improvements as required. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient management of the Production Department, which is also responsible for filling and packaging of adhesives and specialty chemical products, both manufactured by Chemence and purchased from other manufacturers. These include cyanoacrylates, acrylic adhesives, epoxies, solvent based and some photopolymers and VIS products. The incumbent will ensure that this is done at the highest quality, lowest possible cost and at the expected customer service levels. 

 Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Hire and/or retain key Production personnel and develop their skills to achieve world class operational performance in Safety Health and Environmental, Quality, Productivity, Working Capital, and Customer Service.
• Develop individual contributors to function as a High-Performance Team, fast and flexible capable of successfully responding to a dynamic marketplace.
• Model behavior elevating business goals above department goals.
• Consistently demonstrate public passion for Safety
• Participate in the review of operations excellence targets and drive the Production Department to achieve the targets.
• Ceaseless determination for Waste Elimination and Continuous Improvement.
• Writing Production documents and preparation of reports.
• Planning for weekly activities by reviewing production schedule and calculating requirements to align the schedule to optimize throughput and productivity, reduce waste and to deliver customer service.
• Monitor production to foresee and resolve issues.
• Coordination with Maintenance to ensure the optimal operating condition of all process and support equipment.
• Identifies and drives implementation of capital investments to improve processes.
• Lead the investigation of any Production deviation from written instructions and/or product/ material out of specification or trending toward specification limits/non-conforming.
• Ensuring compliance with OSHA and ISO procedures and being an active part of the internal audit process
• Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

As Production Manager, you must have a demonstrated ability to adhere closely to department procedures. Also, you must possess people skills that will allow you to maintain department morale and interact cooperatively with workers from other departments. Within this fast-paced environment, you will need to adapt quickly and use keen problem solving and critical thinking skills.

• 5-10 years’ experience preferred.
• Willing to change organizational structure to fit current and future business needs.

• Deep knowledge of production management.
• Previous chemical formulation experience preferred, but not required.
• Excellent organizational and leaderships abilities. 
• Understanding of quality standards and Health & Safety regulations. 
• Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts. 
• Experience in reporting on key production metrics. 
• Proficient in MS Office and ERP software. 
• Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach. 
• Ss and LEAN manufacturing knowledge is preferred.
• Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent.

 Language Skills: 

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Bilingual in Spanish, but not required.  

Physical Demands: 

• Position requires walking, standing for prolonged periods, occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May be necessary to climb a 4-6-foot ladder and stand or walk for extended periods of time.

  Work Environment: 

• Non-temperature-controlled warehouse, non-temperature-controlled production floor, temperature-controlled office.
