Job Overview:

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a Production Maintenance Supervisor to provide supervisory and technical support to Operations and is responsible for the Plant’s overall preventive maintenance program including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, steam, water, vacuum and compressed air systems under the direction of the department manager. During production this position assists management in overseeing production throughput, employee safety, supervising labor effectiveness and execution of quality product throughout the shift. Supervises personnel, ensuring a high level of employee productivity while managing departmental resources within budget limitations and effectively supporting an efficient production operation at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supervises operation, installation, repair and maintenance of plant equipment and systems under the direction of the department manager.
  • Recruit, train, coach and evaluate performance of maintenance staff as required.
  • Collaborate with MRO Purchasing to maintain an adequate but not excessive inventory of spare parts and supplies to assure that all critical pieces of equipment perform properly and have proper backup to provide for continual operation during production periods.
  • Review requisitions and purchase orders relating to facilities, maintenance and repair as well as all assigned projects for process improvement and expansion to assure that they comply with established budget constraints.
  • Develop and manage an annual plant operating budget that supports the Plant’s maintenance program as well as projects for process improvement and expansion.  Monitors expenditure of funds in budget including expenses for material, parts and labor.

 

Requirements: 

  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing operations, engineering, management, or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the position.
  • 2 years’ experience directly related to maintenance/production supervisory with process analysis and troubleshooting experience. 
  • 2 years’ experience in food processing environment, preferably in the tomato industry, including aseptic processing as well as formulated sauce processing.
  • 2 years’ experience supervising a large group of employees. 
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and work extended schedule, weekends, and any assigned shift during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

 

Compensation: 

The salary range is $74,800 - $82,350, based on experience and qualifications.
