Description

Position Summary: Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, taping, packing, or wrapping containers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aids in setting up filling equipment for production line operations.
  • Being able to start and stop filling machinery and monitor its performance to identify any malfunctions.
  • Report any malfunctions to the Team Leader and Maintenance department if necessary.
  • As an operator, actively adjusts various aspects of the filling process to ensure the product consistently meets the highest quality standards. This includes adjusting weights, or any other requirement for the product that may affect the overall product quality.
  • Inspects filled containers to ensure that products are packaged according to specifications.
  • Ability to feed products to conveyors or other feeding devices.
  • Connects the bulk tank to the machine, meticulously cross-verifying lot numbers, expiration dates, and manufacturing dates with the corresponding batch ticket.
  • Initiates production by carefully following the steps outlined in the Batch Ticket, ensuring that cleaning tags are verified and securely attached to the batch records.
  • Ensures accurate printing of Lot Numbers, Expiration Dates, and other relevant information on materials for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging containers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to take the proper actions with scrapped products, including identifying and handling items such as expired, flammable, or other potentially hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Replenishes packaging supplies as needed and communicates with Team Leads if any raw materials are needed for the production line.
  • Demonstrates the ability to stack pallets in accordance with the specified pallet configuration.
  • Effectively manages Lot Number changes between production runs and diligently verifies them with the Team Leaders.
  • Ensures materials are counted accurately to properly return them and make sure they have the right identification.
  • Conducts quality tests on each item in accordance with the BOM notes, ensuring that the documentation of tests is carefully followed and accurately recorded.
  • Properly allocates data into the Visual Metric, Operator Log Sheet, and Electronic Batch Record by accurately filling out the necessary data fields.
  • Assist other teammates helping when needed while showcasing a strong teamwork mindset.
  • Is capable of operating production machines on the inside of 2 of the following categories: (Liquid bottling, Lotion bottling, Tube lines, Packette lines)
  • Inspires workers with a positive attitude to increase production quantity while upholding high production standards, encouraging a motivated and productive work environment.
  • Should shadow and learn from a Production Machine Operator lll
  • Must be able to fill in for an absent Production Machine Operator l, Packer l, or Packer ll if needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of Production Machine Operator experience, with at least 2-3 years of production or packaging experience in a cGMP environment.
  • Basic understanding of at least three production or packaging machines, including the Simplex.
  • Required proficient conversational English
  • Able to read and write in English
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed written or oral instructions, and to solve problems with well-defined steps.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to keep up with the company's demand for the production lines, including the ability to support 70 bottles per minute. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
