Production Machine Operator

Job Summary

The Production Machine Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production machinery used in the manufacturing of Hexagon Agility products. This position requires previous hands-on machine operating experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow machine instructions, safety procedures, process specifications, quality requirements, and other work instructions while maintaining a safe and efficient production environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, monitor, and tear down production machinery and equipment.
• Monitor machine performance and production progress and make appropriate adjustments within established procedures.
• Perform work according to standard operating procedures, process specifications, and other work instructions.
• Read and understand machine operating instructions, safety manuals, process specifications, and other documentation required to produce quality products.
• Perform machine changeovers and basic equipment adjustments as trained and authorized.
• Identify abnormal machine operation, equipment issues, or production concerns and notify the appropriate leadership.
• Perform routine minor maintenance and basic troubleshooting of production equipment.
• Assemble parts according to product specifications using production equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Accurately use measuring devices and gauges to verify product specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintain accurate production, quality, and equipment records.
• Identify potential hazards and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Encourage team member involvement in safety initiatives to reduce risk and eliminate hazards.
• Notify the appropriate chain of command of quality or production issues and offer potential solutions or recommendations when appropriate.
• Work closely with team members to accomplish individual and team training goals and communicate concerns as needed.
• Maintain 5S standards within the assigned work area.
• Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities.
• Participate in problem-solving and small-group improvement activities.
• Demonstrate professionalism and respect toward leadership, coworkers, and team members.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience operating production or manufacturing machinery in an industrial or manufacturing environment required.
• Two or more years of machine operating experience preferred.
• Experience with machine setup, changeovers, equipment adjustments, and monitoring machine performance strongly preferred.
• Experience performing basic machine troubleshooting, minor maintenance, or preventative maintenance preferred.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to safely work around industrial machinery.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, reliability, and sense of urgency.
• Ability to work assigned shifts and adjust to various shifts based on business needs.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime and additional days as required to meet production needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Working knowledge of production machinery and safe machine operation.
• Ability to independently operate assigned machinery after completing required company training.
• Ability to recognize basic machine or equipment issues and appropriately communicate or escalate concerns.
• Ability to accurately use measuring devices, including pi tape, air pressure gauges, and similar equipment.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, including hand saws, drill guns, jig saws, and similar tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed machine instructions, work instructions, and process specifications.
• Ability to maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to learn new machinery, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to effectively train and support coworkers as needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment with a strong sense of urgency.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours per day) and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is moderately required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds on a regular basis and up to 120 lbs with assistance on an occasional basis (team lift available). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• This position may work additional days outside established work schedule to achieve production goals as necessary. Additionally, work in the plant and outdoors in the field, therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat. The work described while working in the plant or field will require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include: safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, leather gloves, safety vest and steel toed boots
