Job Title: Production Line Lead
Department: Production
Classification: Non-Exempt
Summary: The Production Line Lead is responsible for overseeing a variety of manufacturing activities within their department. This will include planning and leading activities of production personell and coordinating workflow to ensure production and quality goals are achieved. Under general guidelines the Line Lead applies comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures to complete assignments while ensuring that the workplace is a hazard free and safe environment.
Responsibilities: As the Production Line Lead you will:
- Determine the most efficient use of employee resources to accomplish goals: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Team.
- Demonstrate and enforce a commitment to quality and the quality process.
- Ability to learn and execute all operations in the cells on the line.
- Able to identify and maintain quality standards that meet expectations and can drive quality from all teammates.
- Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
- Use basic problem-solving skills to ensure stable operation of the work cells.
- Identify and report problems and potential problems regarding materials quality and other work-related issues and recommend corrective action on a timely basis.
- Can execute basic LEAN principles.
- Maintain a smooth workflow, an organized area, and consistent daily housekeeping of all areas of responsibility
- Keep records up-to date on orders, scrap, re-work and pulls.
- Provide coaching and leadership; motivate employees, provide positive feedback on performance and mediate disputes.
- Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotion, disciplinary action and discharge.
- Maintain employee performance and attendance records (time keeping system).
- Observe and enforce all Company rules and safety practices to ensure a hazard free work environment is maintained.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
You’re a great fit for this position if this describes you;
- High school diploma or equivalent and may have additional relevant training, such as shop class, blueprint reading or machine shop.
- 2 – 5 years of experience in related manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of interdepartmental workflow, knowledge of good manufacturing processes.
- Able to read, comprehend and interpret technical drawings and to relay instructions.
- Excellent written communications skills, including the use of proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar to produce error-free copy, particularly composing letters, reports and documents used for decision making.
- Outstanding oral communication skills including tact and diplomacy which would be utilized during customer service, conflict management, development of relationships with internal and external contact.
- Perform basic shop math calculations (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, measuring and converting decimals) is something you are experienced in.
- Proficient in current computer software: MS Applications Word, Excel, Outlook and understanding of ERP systems.
- Able to stand up to 12 hours per day, walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.
- Occasionally lifting-up to 50 pounds.
- Possess excellent motor coordination and be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and sit.
- Basic knowledge of Empirical and Metric hardware.
- Able to be Forklift certified.
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions, directions and other communication in English.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse projects including, analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem solving, decision making and carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision.
- Must handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
- Able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment, under pressure with time constrains while responding and adapting to change favorably and quickly.
