Job Summary
The Team Lead Assembler is responsible for performing hands-on product assembly while providing daily leadership and support to the assembly team. This role ensures production goals are met by coordinating workflow, maintaining quality standards, and reinforcing safety and compliance requirements. The Team Lead serves as a key liaison between assemblers, Shop Leads, and Quality.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Assemble products to completion in accordance with drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Provide day-to-day guidance, direction, and support to assemblers on the shop floor
- Coordinate daily workflow to support production schedules and priorities
- Read and interpret assembly and fabrication drawings
- Monitor workmanship and quality, identifying issues and escalating concerns when necessary
- Communicate regularly with Shop Leads regarding production status, quality concerns, and staffing needs
- Assist with training and onboarding of new assemblers
- Support team members with assembly tasks and problem-solving as needed
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality System requirements and company procedures
- Promote and enforce environmental, safety, and quality standards
- Participate in shop organization, housekeeping, and cleanup activities
- Model high standards of accountability, professionalism, and quality
Job Requirements:
- Ability to read and understand assembly prints and drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly experience
- Experience with production line assembly and fine manipulation of components
- Ability to work independently while effectively leading and supporting a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Previous lead, mentor, or informal leadership experience preferred
Physical Demands:
- The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or manipulate objects, tools, keyboards or controls
- Reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Occasionally required to walk, sit; and may also be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
