Core Accountabilities

• Prepare material for melting
• Assemble material into furnace heats
• Charge furnace
• Ensure material bins are straight and clean
• Ensure raw material loads are processed completely
• Ensure empty bins are clean and swept
• Clean and line trough as needed
• Coat sow molds, shovels, and sample molds as needed
• Skim sows and mark according to Customer preference
• Pull and weigh sows making sure the weight, sow number, and lot numbers are correct.
• Giving correct sow weights and numbers to the furnace operator for reporting purposes
• Obtain samples during pours as needed. Marking them with correct lot number and sow numbers.
• Remove slag from furnace and scrape if needed
• Dump skim pans
• Ensure quality of finished product
• Remove salt cake from furnace
• Communicate with Supervisor and Furnace Operator on Material Blends
• Work in conjunction with the Receiving Dept on material locations
• Be familiar with and recognize different types of material
• Be familiar with all plant material designators
• Maintain good housekeeping in all areas
• Other duties may be assigned as needed
