Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Perform routine safety walkthroughs on the production floor to identify hazards and ensure compliance
Support collection and tracking of EHS data, including incidents and near misses
Assist with incident reporting, basic investigations, and follow-up actions
Maintain safety documentation, SDS, and chemical inventory systems
Help enforce use of PPE and safe work practices in production areas
Support onboarding safety training and daily safety communications (toolbox talks)
Assist with job safety analyses (JSAs) and hazard identification activities
Participate in emergency response drills and support ERT activities
Work closely with supervisors and operators to promote safe behaviors and resolve safety concerns
Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities
Assist with continuous improvement of safety programs and initiatives
Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree or technical certification in EHS or related field preferred
0–2 years of experience in manufacturing or production environment
Basic knowledge of OSHA/safety practices preferred
Skills & Other Requirements
Experience with Regulatory/Permitting Compliance
Experience Conducting & Performing EHS Risk Assessments (JSAs, PHAs, etc.)
Experience Working in Chemical or Manufacturing Environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
Comfortable working on the production floor and around equipment/chemicals
Good communication skills with frontline employees and supervisors
Ability to be visible, approachable, and proactive in safety enforcement
Ability to anticipate and handle multiple priorities and complex/abstract issues involving external and internal priorities
Ability to handle special assignments promptly and professionally
Ability to work in teams and collaborate.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, influence, planning and organizational skills.
Proficient in MS Office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Safety Requirements
All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.
Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
