Production Editor

As a Production Editor, you’re not just preparing pages—you’re curating experiences for our audience. From writing compelling headlines and sharp captions to making key wire news selections, you’ll help bring each day’s news to life.

What You’ll Do:

You'll be the multitasking maestro of the print world, performing a range of high-impact editorial tasks including:

• Designing layouts and organizing sections for daily and special editions
• Editing copy for grammar, clarity, style, and flow—ensuring every word shines
• Crafting headlines, captions, and selecting photos that make stories pop
• Trimming stories to fit layouts without losing their impact
• Proofing pages with a laser eye for detail
• Typesetting pages to meet tight nightly deadlines

Depending on the day’s needs, you may work across different roles—from full-section editing to headline writing or page proofing. Flexibility and adaptability are essential—we value editors who can shift gears with confidence and maintain high standards, no matter the task.

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong experience with page layout and section organization
• A sharp editor with a flair for headlines and captions
• Deadline-driven with the ability to finish and typeset pages accurately and quickly
• Background in print news production and editorial standards
• A team player with excellent communication skills and a customer-service mindset
• CUE/CCI system knowledge is a big plus

Bonus Skills:

• Deep understanding of AP style and print journalism best practices
• Proven ability to juggle multiple publications and tasks
• High proficiency in proofing, editing, and visual judgment
• Passion for storytelling and delivering clean, compelling print pages
