Job Overview:

  1. SCOPE OF POSITION

Plan direct and control manufacturing departments in the Hamlet Plant as assigned, including but not limited to safety, quality, production, training, work schedules, waste and scrap, maintenance scheduling and PM, manning and parts and supplies needed to achieve production goals and eliminate down time. Also responsible for planning, directing and control of shift supervisors reporting to them as assigned.

 

  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, he/she has authority to take action and make decisions.  The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results.  Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled.

 

Functional Responsibilities


  • Employee development, training, quality, waste, productivity, safety items and issues
  • Schedule orders, update order schedule board to meet deliveries
  • Investigate customer complaints internally or with sales persons or others
  • Communicate with other Supervision/Management/Administration
  • Working with Maintenance to keep machinery running/PM's
  • Employee/Dept. meetings and special projects
  • Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP’s, Work Instructions and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance.

 

Managerial Responsibilities

  1. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Customers, as needed, for quality and customer complaints
  • Vendors, as needed, for production supplies, materials and equipment
  • Plant Manager, daily, for production, quality, safety, employees, schedules, and reports
  • Plant Services Manager, daily, for production schedules, and order problems
  • Customer Service/Sales Reps, daily, for delivery dates and quantities
  • Accounting Department, daily, for record keeping, reports, payroll, inventory adjustments and levels
  • Shipping, daily, for inventory, product location, changes, shipping dates and information
  • Human Resources, daily, for labor issues, policies and problems

 

  1. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regular use of computers, telephones and miscellaneous office equipment

 

 

 

  1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Some physical effort required

 

 

 

  1. WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Office and Manufacturing/Production Floor

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of High School Diploma, or GED, and some post-secondary schooling with
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with progressive responsibilities
  • Knowledge of multi-wall bag operation desired

Skills

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Previous supervisory background
  • Excellent Communication skills, verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of computers and manufacturing systems
  • Knowledge of organized labor environments
  • Sound decision making and judgment ability
  • Ability to work successfully in an independent environment with little supervision
