Job Overview:

**Production Associate

**

**Position Purpose:

**

Performs, fabrication, machining, painting, and assembly operations to mass-produce and ship heavy truck axle and suspension systems in a production manufacturing environment.

**Essential Functions:

**

  • Perform production manufacturing processes as outlined in written work instruction

  • Tracks and records produced product and scrap in MOS system

  • Conduct equipment changeovers to manufacture a variety of parts.

  • Use high-definition plasmas and CO2 lasers to cut parts from sheet steel

  • Operate hydraulic forming presses to form parts for integration into suspension systems

  • Operate robotic tack weld and MIG weld robots to form suspension systems

  • Assemble products using hoists, torque guns, alignment fixtures, and fixtures to assemble parts into completed axle and suspension systems.

  • Work in isolated cells or on open assembly lines where tasks vary as different models of the same article moves along lines.

  • Identify the quality requirements (torque, heat lots, lot trace ability system, etc.)

  • Communicates with supervisors, quality control, engineers, and peers concerning production issues, changes and concerns

  • Cross train and work at different work centers as production needs require

  • Perform 5S activities on a daily basis established by Production Manager

  • Operate forklift, overhead cranes, overhead hoists and lifting devices to move various parts

  • All other duties as assigned.

**Education and Training

**

Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Three to six months of related experience working in a production manufacturing environment preferred.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Maintain good attendance, meet production rates after training and maintain high quality standards.

  • Possess the ability read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Demonstrate the capacity to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • In addition to basic education requirements, candidates must be capable of passing a fit for duty physical, a pre-employment drug & alcohol test, as well as a background screen.

**Environmental Conditions

**

Non-Climate controlled factory/warehouse environment with exposure to high heat, dust, grease, weld fume, paint fumes, loud noise, debris, and machinery.
