Summary of the role

  • The Product Quality Engineer drives continual improvement in product quality for Nordson. They serve as the primary engineering contact for our global field and sales teams. They are responsible for maintaining communication between the field, manufacturing, and product development engineering relative to customer concerns and quality issues. The PQE owns the Corrective Action Request process and ensures a data driven approach is executed to yield qualified corrective actions. This position interfaces with sales, purchasing, factory assembly and planning teams, machine shop, external vendors, and other engineering organizations within Nordson.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely communication with requestors, manufacturing leads, and development engineering.
  • Maintain C.A.R. database.
  • Perform C.A.R. data analysis to identify areas for quality projects.
  • Management of quality projects; problem definition, establishment of teams, perform RCA activities and drive to corrective actions.
  • Complete 8D forms as required for customer communication.
  • Participate in and drive internal projects to set the stage for quality assurance within our manufacturing processes.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical preferred, from ABET accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in relevant technical field.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level.
  • Excellent root cause analysis skills with sound mechanical engineering skillset.
  • Ability to do full range of technical analysis and calculations involving mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics; knowledgeable of manufacturing processes and basic electrical engineering.
  • Experienced with 3D parametric modeling software, SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Self-starter who works well independently, but collaborates effectively as well.
  • Ability to understand and communicate engineered drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing of precision machined components, sheet metal, casted and molded parts.
  • Familiar with office software, ERP software experience, SAP is preferred.
  • Familiar with Lean Six Sigma tools; greenbelt or higher preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to remote plant location as needed for support.
