Job Overview:

As a Principal Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy and execution for our Mixed Signal hardware portfolio. This high-impact position offers direct visibility with executive leadership and the opportunity to influence the future of our technology!

You’ll work cross-functionally with R&D, Marketing, and Sales to deeply understand customer problems and craft compelling product strategies that clearly differentiate our solutions in the market. Your ability to translate customer needs into actionable features and compelling benefits will be essential to delivering solutions that resonate in the market and secure long-term competitive advantage.

As a senior leader on the team, you’ll also mentor and guide other product managers - sharing your expertise in product strategy and helping them grow into high-performing contributors.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Own a product area end-to-end—from defining new product concepts and driving execution to managing the full product lifecycle.
  • Set product strategy: turn customer input, market/technology trends, and competitive insights into a clear vision, roadmap, and execution plan with R&D.
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales to develop compelling product positioning and articulate clear, differentiated messaging.
  • Create impactful content such as white papers, presentations, videos, product demos, and web collateral to drive awareness and demand for NI’s products and technologies.
  • Support pre-sales efforts as a subject matter expert, helping customers understand the value and capabilities of NI’s solutions.
  • Monitor and report on product performance and health, identifying key trends, challenges, and opportunities across both demand and supply dimensions.
  • Represent NI at industry events, trade shows, and conferences, serving as a product expert and brand ambassador to engage with customers, partners, and leaders with vision.

How You will Operate

To be effective: you quickly build trust across stakeholders, influence without authority, negotiate effectively without eroding trust, stay focused on customer outcomes, and remain comfortable with ambiguity in high-stakes situations.

Who You Are:

You introduce new ways of looking at problems.  You partner with others to get work done.  You are confident under pressure.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering
  • 8+ years of applications/system engineering, product management, R&D, or related roles in test and measurement applications
  • NI PXI/LabVIEW experience; high-speed PXI instrumentation
  • Legal authorization to work in the US - visa sponsorship will not be provided

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  •  Experience with Oscilloscopes/AWGs
  •  Applications/System Engineering or R&D background
  • Customer Focus – customer outcome is the foundation of all you do. Commercial success will follow if this is done right.
  • Strong business and technical acumen, grounded in intellectual honesty: Success in this role hinges on earning the trust and confidence of R&D leadership. This trust is built not only on deep expertise and sound judgment, but also on unwavering intellectual honesty—demonstrating transparency, integrity, and a commitment to doing what’s right for the product and the business.
  • Influence without authority: Drive alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Technical depth + business perspective: Go deep technically while connecting decisions to business models and monetization.

  • Executive communication: Tailor crisp messages from executive level to architects and key customers.

  • Problem-solving: Skill in diagnosing technical issues and offering creative, practical solutions.
  • Adaptability and self-motivation: A desire to learn quickly, thrive in ambiguity, and take initiative.
