JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Beretta is seeking a motivated Product Design Engineer to join our team at our Gallatin, TN facility. This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and transition of firearms from concept to production.

As a Product Design Engineer, you will support the development and improvement of firearms by working on design tasks, failure analysis, testing, and documentation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet safety, performance, and cost objectives. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

• Assist with product design and industrialization for firearms, including R&D, design, and improvement.
• Support product development programs and ensure cost, quality, and schedule objectives are met.
• Develop test plans, conduct product testing, and generate detailed test reports.
• Collaborate with Product Marketing to review product specifications and procedures.
• Design and evaluate new products and components, generating 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
• Identify and implement product improvements in cost, performance, manufacturability, and quality.
• Investigate and solve product-related issues and challenges.
• Maintain Bills of Materials and Item Data in CAD and MRP systems.
• Assist with engineering change notices (ECNs) and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Conduct tolerance studies and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) to complex assemblies.
• Assist with evaluating and introducing new technologies and materials.
• Contribute to innovation efforts and support intellectual property management.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with Industrial Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Production Personnel, and Sales/Marketing teams to address product-related inquiries and issues.
• Assist external vendors with product-related projects, questions, and problems.
• Develop and integrate best practices within the group and provide suggestions for overall efficiency improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in a professional group office environment as well as laboratory and test range environments. Requires the ability to physically and safely test, evaluate and maintain various firearms including pistols, rifles and shotguns (semiautomatic, bolt action, pump action, fully automatic) including extensive live fire testing. Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

• Technical understanding of the function of small arms.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and geometric tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5).
• Experience in CAD (NX preferred), 2D drafting, and FEM/FEA analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and mechanical design skills.
