Team or Function Overview

The Supply Chain team at the Plant handles the planning of raw materials, procuring of direct and indirect Goods and Services, and both the inbound and finished goods logistics. They are integral to the successful operations and work closely with the Plant and the broader Integrated Supply Chain (“ISC”) team of Category Managers and Leaders for DIrect materials, Indirect Capital and Manufacturing Goods & Services, and the Transportation. The SIte Materials Manager reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

Summary

The Site Materials Manager is responsible for the production scheduling, raw material planning and receiving, logistics coordination and direct and indirect procurement in support of Plant operations. With a strategic mindset and understanding of the business needs and risks, the Site Material Manager will lead the procurement efforts of the team others to ensure Goods and Services are procured to the highest quality level, in the desired quantities, within the required time cycle, on the most economical terms, and in alignment with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties

Lead Supply Chain efforts including:

  • Manage the receiving function to maintain accurate raw material inventory balances. Audit and track FIFO compliance by plant operators. Communication with applicable internal departments and vendors to include, but limited to, scheduling activities etc.
  • Production scheduling and raw materials planning to maintain a balance of service levels, inventory levels and change-over time.
  • Be actively involved in site sustainability programs including but not limited to: Manage waste and recycle programs. Ensure that scrap/surplus materials and any salvageable byproduct associated with the plant are sold to maximize return to the company.
  • Provide training and development plans, to include coaching, training and staffing for employees to ensure facility and department goals are aligned. Track performance based on goals and quantifiable measurements.

Lead site procurement efforts including:

  • Leverage and drive consolidation of spend to seek out synergies across the plants in the region where applicable
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop and negotiate new sourcing and supply agreements that are business aligned at optimal risk and value.
  • Improving the compliance of spend under management with preferred suppliers through effective communication with internal customers
  • Capital Projects-Participate in planning and coordinating groups, manage and coordinate contractors and material suppliers, develop and track contract status, PR/PO status, material build and delivery status
  • Minimizing purchase price variance and maximize value of supplies through the use of budgetary quotes, Market Basket RFQs, RFQs for single items, e- auctions, negotiations, and through an understanding of the supply base
  • Ensuring all purchases are made in accordance with company policies and procedures, educating and training others as needed, and maintaining appropriate documentation and files for all purchases made.
  • Provide training and development plans, to include coaching, training and staffing for employees to ensure facility and department goals are aligned. Track performance based on goals and quantifiable measurements.

Under This Roof, We Require

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field or 5+ years of hands on Purchasing/Procurement experience
  • 5+ years related experience in manufacturing, distribution, purchasing and production planning
  • 5+ years supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the use of ERP systems (PeopleSoft, Carta, Maximo, Coupa.)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer-focused and multi-functional team environment.

Under This Roof, We Also Value

  • Industrial manufacturing and/or Business Management experience preferred
  • High volume manufacturing, distribution, production planning,
  • APICS certification
  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Supply Chain Planning software ( JDA Master Planning/Forecasting)
  • Acquaintance with Warehouse Management Systems ( WMS -RF),
  • Adept at use of Finite Scheduling Systems (JDA Sequencing)
  • Adept working with Inventory Management Systems and processes , such as FIFO, LIFO, WIP, Physical counts, Cycle counts and process controls
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and software, such as web-based Carrier Point or Red Prairie ( load tendering, freight rates and carrier management, tracking and tracing systems)
  • Advanced communication skills and Google Suite proficiency
