Work Arrangement:
Candidates are expected to work full-time in the office during the first 30 to 60 days. A hybrid work schedule may be available based on performance.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Required Skills
- Experience developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) categories
- Experience managing and executing RFQs and RFPs
- Contract negotiation experience
- Strong ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and proactive approach to work
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience with Oracle (Cloud or EBS), JD Edwards, or Glovia ERP systems

Position Overview
A leading organization in the energy industry is seeking a Procurement Category Specialist to join its Corporate Procurement team in Houston. This role will lead strategic sourcing initiatives, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and drive value through effective supplier and category management.
The Procurement Category Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic sourcing initiatives across the organization. This position works closely with site personnel, manufacturers, and distributors to enhance procurement performance, optimize costs, and support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in supply chain management, excellent project management skills, and the ability to bring complex initiatives to successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for assigned categories
- Conduct market research and supplier assessments to identify cost-saving and value-enhancing opportunities
- Prepare, issue, and manage RFQs and RFPs
- Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements, including pricing, discounts, terms, and conditions
- Manage supplier relationships and performance
- Analyze spend data and develop strategic sourcing plans
- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand operational and business requirements
- Track, analyze, and report procurement performance metrics
- Support additional procurement and supply chain initiatives as assigned
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the oil and gas or industrial sector
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and procurement best practices
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven ability to manage complex projects from initiation through completion
- Experience using procurement and ERP systems for sourcing, contract management, supplier evaluation, and data analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across multiple functions
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and commitment to professionalism, ethics, and integrity
