Summary: 

The Process Writer is responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining manufacturing process documentation and assembly work instructions in support of electronics manufacturing operations. This role supports manufacturing readiness, process standardization, and production efficiency by ensuring accurate and effective documentation aligned with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and internal manufacturing standards.

The Process Writer partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to support new product introduction (NPI), engineering change implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a key role in maintaining documentation integrity and supporting consistent, repeatable manufacturing processes within a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Create, revise, and maintain manufacturing process flows, assembly instructions, visual aids, and production-related documentation.
  • Interpret customer drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Process Change Notices (PCNs), and related technical documentation.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes, deviations, and documentation updates within established revision control procedures.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams to ensure manufacturing documentation accurately reflects process requirements and operational standards.
  • Utilize standardized templates and document control procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy within manufacturing documentation.
  • Incorporate process visuals, photographs, and technical details to improve operator understanding and manufacturing consistency.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through development and release of manufacturing documentation packages.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, standardization, and process optimization.
  • Maintain organized electronic documentation files and support document control activities within internal systems.
  • Support production teams with document corrections, updates, and process clarification requests.
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation complies with customer requirements, company standards, and applicable industry practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and operational objectives.

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Associate’s degree or technical training in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Technical Writing, or related field preferred
  • Certifications: IPC certification or related manufacturing certifications preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an electronics manufacturing or manufacturing support environment preferred
  • Experience supporting SMT and electronic assembly manufacturing processes preferred
  • Basic understanding of SMT placement, through-hole assembly, soldering, routing, AOI inspection, and related production processes preferred
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Experience with FactoryLogix (FLx/Aegis), Fourth Shift, Adobe Acrobat, or related manufacturing systems preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, and office equipment
  • Ability to visually review detailed technical documentation, drawings, and manufacturing data
  • Occasional movement throughout office and manufacturing areas
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and cross-functional teams
  • May occasionally lift and/or move items up to 15 pounds

Work Environment: 

  • Work is performed in a professional, climate-controlled office setting with exposure to standard office noise levels and lighting. The role routinely uses typical office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and related peripherals. Duties may involve extended periods of sitting, sustained computer work, and regular interaction with internal staff. Employees may occasionally access production areas, which may expose them to elevated noise levels, temperature variations, or manufacturing activity. All employees are expected to comply with workplace policies, safety protocols, and organizational procedures.
