Process Technician

1st or 3rd Shift

*$26-$36hr based on experience. *

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Process Technician with a strong background in plastic injection molding to support production operations and ensure molding processes run safely, efficiently, and consistently. This position will be responsible for machine setups, mold changeovers, process adjustments, troubleshooting, and optimizing injection molding processes to meet quality and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate plastic injection molding machines, molds, auxiliary equipment, and related tooling.
• Perform mold changes, machine setups, startups, and changeovers efficiently and safely.
• Establish and maintain proper machine and process parameters, including temperatures, pressures, speeds, cooling, and cycle times.
• Troubleshoot molding processes and equipment to identify and correct issues affecting quality, productivity, and cycle time.
• Understand mold construction and operation, including hot runners, cold runners, slides, cores, ejectors, and cooling systems.
• Make process adjustments to correct defects such as short shots, flash, sink, warpage, burn marks, splay, and dimensional issues.
• Monitor production processes and make adjustments to maintain consistent part quality and optimal cycle times.
• Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve process and equipment issues.
• Assist with new mold and process trials, including setup, parameter development, and process validation.
• Document process settings, troubleshooting activities, and production changes as needed.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and ensure molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment are properly maintained and operating safely.
• Train and provide technical guidance to machine operators on proper molding processes and procedures.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and production standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Process Technician experience in plastic injection molding preferred.
• Strong understanding of injection molding machines, molds, tooling, and processing techniques.
• Proven experience with machine setups, mold changes, startups, and changeovers.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize injection molding processes.
• Knowledge of resins, material handling, drying, and material processing.
• Ability to read and understand process documentation, setup sheets, and technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
• Injection molding certifications or formal plastics/injection molding training preferred.
• Experience with a variety of molding machines, controls, molds, and auxiliary equipment is a plus.
