Process Launch Engineer
Location: Marion, Illinois
Overview
We are seeking a Process Launch Engineer to support new product launches, manufacturing process development, and continuous improvement initiatives within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
This role is responsible for leading production launch activities, validating manufacturing processes, supporting equipment readiness, and ensuring quality and production targets are achieved during ramp-up. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting ability, hands-on engineering experience, and the drive to improve manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing launch activities for new products and process changes
- Develop, validate, and improve assembly, molding, welding, and testing processes
- Support production readiness, equipment validation, and process implementation
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure successful launches
- Monitor production performance including scrap, downtime, cycle times, and throughput
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues using root cause analysis methods
- Conduct capability studies and analyse production data to improve process stability
- Support pre-production trials and manufacturing line setup activities
- Develop process documentation, specifications, and work instructions
- Coordinate activities with tooling, machinery, and equipment suppliers
- Assist with capital equipment planning and implementation
- Train production and maintenance teams on new processes and equipment
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
- Associate degree with relevant automotive manufacturing experience also considered
- Experience supporting manufacturing launches, process engineering, or production engineering within automotive or industrial environments
- Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation systems
- PLC programming and troubleshooting experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
- Hands-on engineering mindset with the ability to support manufacturing operations directly
- Experience with Microsoft Office and engineering software tools such as SolidWorks preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
