Summary
The process helper is responsible for assisting paint operators in the preparation of paint processing.
Job Duties
- Complies with quality, safety, housekeeping, maintenance, production, environmental, and personnel practices to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
- Set up, maintain and operate equipment such as HVLP paint guns ( gravity fed and pressure fed equipment) paint mixers, mil thickness gauges and other paint measuring equipment and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments.
- Mix and apply various topcoat finishes within thickness requirements ( polyurethanes, epoxy, lacquers, clears, ( gloss, semi-gloss, and flat finishes)
- Cleans, masks & paints parts per internal/customer process specification along with verbal instructions.
- Selects & mixes coating material along with the basic understanding of various paints, primers & other chemicals associated with aerospace coatings.
- Completes efficiently and timely all administrative tasks related to work orders & equipment maintenance.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment by proactively cleaning equipment and paint booth areas; complying with procedures, rules & regulations.
- References blue prints to accurately assess masking requirements specified on print.
- Assists in the inspection of product and notifies the Department Supervisor of any non-conformances.
- Records masking details on the job ticket and any necessary information on the work order as required.
- Ability to record paint usage and waste tracking in the appropriate software
- Ensures all customer product and tooling is handled properly to avoid damage
- Promotes and works safely at all times and complies with all safety regulations while working with Hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Take instructions from supervisors.
Educational and Work Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the metal finishing industry is helpful but not required.
- Detail oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Willingness to work around chemicals using appropriate safety equipment.
