Voted 2023 Manufacturer of the Year by Kentucky Association of Manufacturers for mid-sized companies. Seeking a process engineering  technician to support operations on weekend shift. Will work closely with process, project and tooling engineering along with production to coordinate activities connected with technical developments, scheduling and resolving design and test problems, or to implement new product launches on the production floor.

What You’ll Be Doing: Engage in hands-on process technical support on the production floor a minimum 80% of time.   Under minimum supervision, performs new tool tryouts, analyzes tool design and specifications for the purpose of determining how tools are designed to function.  Assist operators with technical problem solving and recommending creative technical solutions.  Perform a variety of duties such as conducting tests, reporting data, adjusting equipment, troubleshooting equipment, diagnosing and recommending actions from findings.  

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide process operations support with hands on troubleshooting and development.  
  • Assist in process optimization.
  • Analyze data to improve process tool and process quality.
  • Verify manufacturing standards, actual versus estimates.
  • Performs process capability and uptime study to meet pre-determined goals prior to formal handoff of project to manufacturing.
  • Assists Maintenance Team on repeat machine problems
  • Implements CI/Cost reduction and safety projects
  • Researches and performs trials on supplies and consumables that will improve cost and/or quality. 

 

Tooling as relates to Operations and Tool Department

  • Investigates and coordinates tooling improvements, repairs and replacements. 
  • Monitors Standard Tooling Inventories to ensure appropriate quantities are on hand.
  • Facilitates initial manufacturing review of set-up books coordinates ongoing updates.
  • Programs production software/equipment and supports manufacturing as necessary with problems.
  • Provides technical support problem solving expertise to manufacturing, as appropriate.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires PPE.

 

Schedule: This position is non-exempt (overtime pay eligible). Once training is completed, will primarily work Friday to Sunday 6AM to 6PM. Overtime or other hours as needed to support projects and training. Eligible for weekend pay premium once assigned to shift.

 

Qualifications  

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education
  • Five or more years’ experience in metal forming, roll forming, or equivalent. Should include experience with roll forming operations, progressive stamping, welding or tool & die. Should be a master operator or in process of pursuing master designation.
  • Computer/technical skills including: working knowledge of CAD software, Microsoft Office products and internal manufacturing software. 
  • Must be willing to work assigned shift. May require some flexibility for projects and training.
  • US Person as defined by ITAR / EAR

 

Preferred

  • Two-year technical degree
  • Two or more years’ experience in tryout, R&D
  • Hands-on experience with: lean manufacturing principles, PLCs and electrical controls/programming, PFMEA, SPC & GD&T, quality certification systems.
