Job Overview:

Sustaining Process Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Process Engineering Technician to support the development and optimization of manufacturing processes. In this role, you'll work closely with Process Engineers and Production teams to implement and improve new and existing processes, perform data analysis, support trial execution, and help scale up manufacturing capabilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, execution, and evaluation of process improvement trials focused on yield, cost, and performance enhancements.

  • Perform in-process measurements and compile data for engineers and operations teams.

  • Apply principles of engineering, physics, chemistry, statistics, and materials science to identify root causes and resolve process challenges.

  • Support R&D and production line activities by working directly with manufacturing equipment and tools.

  • Help qualify new tools and processes, ensuring readiness for high-volume production.

  • Develop and maintain clear, accurate SOPs and work instructions; assist in training team members on safe and correct practices.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to solve day-to-day issues and drive improvements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education

  • High school diploma required. An associate's degree in engineering technology or relevant technical training is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing or related environments.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Familiar with common workplace software (Microsoft Office).

  • Independent problem solver with a desire to learn new skills and develop new technology.

  • Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented mindset.

  • Able to adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced start-up setting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to use hand and machine tools safely.

Bonus Points

  • Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD).

  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis software such as JMP, Minitab, or Python.

  • Prior experience with soldering (wire or PCB) and production tools.

  • Skilled in operating power tools (e.g., drills, bandsaws, saws).

  • Six Sigma certifications or similar process improvement training.

  • Background in a start-up or fast-growing manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands – Office and Manufacturing Environment 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, pull/push, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment –

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to chemicals used to run/maintain machines

PPE-

May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, & clean-room frocks while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures
