The Process Engineer works closely with Engineering and Operations team to ensure efficiency of production floor processes and provides training to production floor operators to maximize program effectiveness. This role requires strong communication skills, acting as a liaison between departments, with the ability to effectively utilize existing resources and collaborating with departments to solve problems. The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installation/commissioning new equipment
  • Develop and/or update SOPs for manufacturing processes
  • Maintaining tooling inventory essential to the wire extrusion and copper drawing process
  • Identify and correct problems through use of root cause problem solving skills along with experimental approaches such as DOE, 5 Y, 8D, fishbone diagram, FMEA
  • Visual factory management
  • Interfacing with various wire and cable industry vendors
  • General focus on process improvement and cost savings projects
  • Reduction of waste and improvement of OEE
  • Automate the set-up sheet process

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office, CAD
  • Basic understanding of FMEA, Control Plans, Value Stream Mapping & SPC
  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team first attitude with the ability to work and produce positive results independently
  • Self-starter with ability to effectively utilize existing resources to solve problems
  • Proven ability to implement change through Continual Improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to Implement Visual Management Systems

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum BS in Engineering, 2 years’ experience in wire & cable manufacturing in lieu of education, or 5 years’ experience in other manufacturing environment

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (both verbal & written)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:

  • Green Belt is desired, but not necessary

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
