Position Summary:
We are seeking a mid-level Process Engineer to join our team at the Pryor, OK facility. In this role, you will play a key role in continuously improving our batch polyester resin process for our Silmar and CoREZYN brands. You will leverage your engineering expertise and problem-solving skills to enhance SAFETY, quality and productivity of our plant.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates consistent behaviors that show safety is fundamental to everything they do.
- Drives continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and process optimization by leveraging key performance indicators such as utilization, cycle efficiency and overall plant efficiency for both reactor and blending operations.
- Conducts root cause analysis when plant or equipment issues arise. Implements corrective and preventative actions to avoid reoccurrence.
- Identify and analyze operational bottlenecks to develop and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and facility performance.
- Partners with the manufacturing team to identify and address process inefficiencies, implement standardized procedures, and ensure consistent high-quality production.
- Works with quality / R&D teams to enhance formulas, processes, and quality. As well as scale up for new products and processes.
- Manages $10K to $150K capital projects in conjunction with process improvement activities.
- Assists with leadership of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education / Training Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
- 3 + years prior experience in batch process engineering in a PSM regulated facility
- 2+ years’ experience in managing within Quality programs such as ISO 9001
- Experienced in applying continuous improvement programs such as SPC/SQC, Six Sigma, and Lean at a moderate level
- Proficient in various software including MiniTab, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office programs.
Competencies Required:
- Sound chemical process engineering skills demonstrated through the use of calculations and modeling to understand processing parameters for design, operations, and improvement.
- Knowledge and understanding of PLC programs using Rockwell Automation products and software. FactoryTalk experience a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of chemical process equipment and technologies, such as reaction, mixing, fluid flow, heat transfer system, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot, analyze data, and use quantitative information to drive priority and decision making
- Demonstrated meeting facilitation and project management skills.
- Proven ability to plan, organize and execute improvement/safety projects.
- Proven ability to apply innovative solutions to product design and processes.
- Ability to provide leadership for technical and non-technical personnel
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy in all work
- Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment.
- Understanding of process hazard analysis (PHA) methodologies, especially HAZOP & LOPA.
