Position Summary
As a Process Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to analyze, improve, and document manufacturing processes. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to automotive production systems, lean manufacturing tools, and real-world problem-solving in a fast-paced plant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with time studies, process mapping, and workflow analysis to identify bottlenecks and efficiency opportunities.
- Support implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, kaizen events, standard work, and waste reduction projects.
- Collect, analyze, and report production data related to cycle times, scrap, equipment performance, and labor efficiency.
- Help develop or update process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for quality or process issues.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to support engineering trials and process validations.
- Assist with design, testing, and implementation of fixtures, tools, or process layouts (if applicable).
- Maintain safe work practices and adhere to all plant safety policies.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, or industrial systems (coursework acceptable).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel; exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a hands-on environment.
