Process Engineer Co-Op/Intern

A Process Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic will be assigned to special projects and will assist other engineers on major projects and day-to-day troubleshooting to optimize mill performance. Projects will focus on improving facility efficiency and final product quality.

Where will you work?

Mosaic Potash Esterhazy is an underground potash mine located 90 kilometers south of Yorkton. It’s split between three mine sites - K1, K2 and K3 which will be the largest, and one of the world’s most competitive underground potash mines in the world.

Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates.

Term

January 13, 2025 - August 22, 2025

Full time Co-Op/Internship. 36-40 hours a week on site.

What will you do?

  • Work at the K1 or K2 surface milling facility.

  • Day-to-day work assignments could include fieldwork, e.g. data analysis, report writing, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).

    • Projects will be assigned by the supervisor and could include:

    • Troubleshooting to identify root cause of problems.

    • Projects to optimize process controls.

    • Mass and energy balances for various types of chemical processes.

    • Communication/operator training for project implementation.n

    • Assist Turnaround and Repair Day equipment inspections as required.

  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), lab personnel, and contractors.

  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment.

  • Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies.

What do you need for this role?

  • Second year or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical and or Process Engineering.

  • General understanding of engineering concepts and a desire to learn.

  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment.

  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is preferred.

  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.

  • Basic computer skills are required.

  • Experience working in a team environment is a must.

  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.

  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus.

  • Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.

  • Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
