Job Overview:

Process Engineer

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established, high-volume manufacturer seeking a Senior Process Engineer to help drive meaningful improvements across its manufacturing operation.

This is not a role where you'll inherit perfectly optimized processes and spend your time maintaining the status quo. The facility has tremendous manufacturing capability and a highly skilled workforce, but there is significant opportunity to improve process consistency, quality, scrap, throughput, reliability and overall manufacturing discipline.

The Process Engineer will have the opportunity to get onto the plant floor, understand how the operation actually runs, identify where variation and waste are occurring, and implement sustainable improvements.

For an engineer who enjoys solving problems and seeing measurable results from their work, this is an opportunity to make a visible impact.

What You'll Do

The Process Engineer will lead continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives throughout a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities involving quality, scrap, throughput, downtime, reliability and cost.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve overall manufacturing performance.
  • Develop, optimize and standardize manufacturing processes and operating parameters.
  • Use data and direct observation to identify process variation and determine root causes of quality and production problems.
  • Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action efforts.
  • Develop solutions that improve product quality without sacrificing productivity or safety.
  • Establish meaningful process measurements, controls and performance indicators.
  • Partner closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering to solve recurring manufacturing problems.
  • Improve process capability, repeatability and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Evaluate manufacturing methods, tooling, equipment and workflows and recommend improvements.
  • Support trials, process changes, equipment modifications and capital projects.
  • Develop and document standard work, process specifications and operating procedures.
  • Monitor results after implementation to ensure improvements are sustainable.
  • Help create a stronger culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision making.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and manufacturing personnel.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to employee safety and ensure process improvements support safe operating practices.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant process, manufacturing or continuous improvement engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process control and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated success improving quality, reducing scrap, increasing throughput or improving manufacturing reliability.
  • Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, DMAIC or similar continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing data and translate findings into practical plant-floor solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, maintenance personnel and plant leadership.
  • Hands-on mentality. This position requires someone who wants to understand the process at the equipment and operator level—not manage improvement solely from an office.
  • Experience in metals, tubing, forming, heat treatment, finishing, high-volume discrete manufacturing or another process-intensive manufacturing environment would be particularly valuable.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

The opportunity here is impact.

The organization has an established product, significant manufacturing volume and experienced employees. At the same time, there is substantial opportunity to improve process control, reduce variation and scrap, strengthen standard work and create more consistent manufacturing performance.

The successful engineer will not simply maintain an existing system. You'll have the opportunity to help build a better one.

If you enjoy walking onto a manufacturing floor, finding problems others have learned to live with, determining why they're happening and fixing them permanently, this could be an outstanding opportunity.
