Job Summary


The primary role of the Process Engineer is to develop and design mechanical processes for new and existing industrial systems as defined by clients. This role includes the overall design, development, improvement, and implementation of industrial processes. The engineer will assess project feasibility, cost, and timelines. They will prepare and review P&IDs, flow diagrams, isometrics, and other engineering drawings. This role requires a high level of communication and coordination with individuals, engineering teams as well as clients.

  • Provide expertise in various aspects of piping, engineering, and equipment layout design as well as other functions as required.
  • Research and analyze client requests associated with the process or mechanical design.
  • Design concepts, drawings, equipment specifications, and control concepts for industrial processes including piping and heat transference.
  • Participate in planning, cost development, and scheduling for projects.
  • Generate analyses, specifications, cost estimates, and estimated construction schedules for projects.
  • Coordinate with various engineering groups including controls and electrical fields to assist in designing systems for projects.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and relevant stakeholders on projects.
  • Create and edit existing P&IDs, isometric, and other engineering drawings.
  • Develop 3D piping, structural, and equipment models.
  • Utilize laser scanning equipment on-site to assist in creating 3D models.
  • Participate in team project meetings.
  • Prepare technical information and presentations for peers, teams, and clients.
  • Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, and innovation are highly valued.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in process design or related field.
  • Experience in mass and energy balance, heat transfer, chemical equipment specifications and selections, fluid flow, and pressure drop calculations. 
  • Familiarity with project execution and phases.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Microstation software packages.
  • Experience in facility design including piping design, pump and compressors, safety systems, storage tanks, and heat exchangers.
  • Gathering and analyzing measurement data from the field.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and critically evaluate design drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain quality service while under pressure.
  • High level of conscientiousness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work alone or within groups as necessary.
  • Excellent      interpersonal communication skills (e.g. Being able to explain technical      issues to clients using common language.)
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.
  • PE license is a plus. 

  Working Conditions

This position routinely operates in a professional office environment with the potential for travel and on-site start-up time. Start-ups may include working environments such as factory floors where industrial machinery is present and in operation.

This role requires the employee to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products, supplies, and electrical equipment up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Travel

Willingness and ability to travel to other locations, as needed.
