JOB DESCRIPTION
The Process Engineer will plan utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve the efficiency of operations. Responsible for analyzing, developing, and improving packaging processes to enhance productivity, ensure quality, and reduce costs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoot technical issues, and support the introduction of new packaging technologies and equipment for our multi-site and multi-company environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze workforce utilization, manufacturing processes, safety requirements, facility layout, operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules to determine safe and efficient utilization of workforce, equipment, and to ensure consistent product quality.
- Establish work measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for workforce utilization.
- Develop, recommend, and implement methods for improving efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase and or development of equipment.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies, automation solutions, and equipment to enhance packaging capabilities and throughput.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and best practices for packaging operations.
- Monitor production lines and equipment performance, identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for process-related issues to minimize downtime and defects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, maintenance, and engineering to support continuous improvement projects.
- Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to ensure optimal use of resources.
- Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, and participate in audits as needed.
- Train operators and staff on new processes, equipment, and quality standards to maintain operational excellence.
- Support new product launches and packaging format changes through process trials and validations.
- Develop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, and job evaluation.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Design departments in the development and/or prototyping of new products and technology.
- Understand and apply the principles of Bradford quality standards to job duties.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in engineering related major; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
