Job Description

The Process Engineer’s prime objectives are to initiate and lead the process optimization efforts to ensure effective & efficient utilization while producing a consistent quality product. The essential function and key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor the daily performance of production and communicate the evaluation to the process/production groups
  • Contribute to Teledyne Micropac’s variable costs by making process and equipment operation more efficient & effective
  • Initiates continuous improvement and process optimization projects
  • Conducts process audits, SPC, PFMEA as set by the process manager
  • Assist Process Manager in the preparation of the company performance plan
  • Provide technical support and assist in the resolution of manufacturing problems as required
  • Confers with vendors to resolve equipment, materials, and/or quality issues that are impacting the quality of the end product being produced
  • Applies statistical methods to the analysis of key manufacturing processes and controls
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BOM structure and change control process
  • Team player in pursuit and support of cost reduction activities to achieve company goals
  • Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction, and work as part of a team
  • Capability to accurately and efficiently work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel “as required” to provide technical support and training
  • Identify process bottlenecks and devise solutions to resolve them
  • Research new manufacturing technology and equipment and prepare proposals to justify the management expenditure
  • Monitor and track manufacturing systems’ functionality and production records, maintain production documentation
  • Ensure all processes and equipment comply with all state and federal regulations/guidelines through proactive solutions and technologies
  • Implement and advance LEAN manufacturing principles, equipment reliability, and automation into production
  • Confer with production management, and maintenance personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production process improvements
  • Communicate effectively with operators, maintenance, and operational management ensuring alignment when introducing and implementing new processes, work instructions, and equipment

Position Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering or related discipline
  • 1 year working experience as a Process Engineer or related engineering position
  • Minimum of 15 years working experience in a directly related position of responsibility with demonstrated engineering competency may be considered in place of a formal college degree with associated experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certified
  • Solid works experience a plus
  • Demonstrates accuracy and proficiency in the execution of job responsibilities
