Job Overview:

The Process Engineer’s function is to support Operations at the Corporate level with a focus on operational sequencing and technology identification to ensure completion of scheduled projects. This role is responsible for being the architect of our manufacturing process with a focus on new product introduction. This position will identify best equipment and processes internally and externally. This position will work cross-functionally and collaboratively across the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Create routing operation sequencing on NPI work including the flow down of customer requirements.
  • Identify best technology platforms for NPI parts with an emphasis on automation and quick change, in partnership with CNC Programmers and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Identify material requirements, specifications, and manufacturing optimization (plate stock, round stock, cut to size, multiple parts cut in machine out of one plate), in collaboration with Purchasing and Programing.
  • Review and release repeat orders.
  • Gathers information on speeds, feeds, and tooling requirements for various materials and machining practices.
  • Creates and documents processes, prepares drawings, and develop work instructions.
  • Estimates time standards for all orders prior to their release to manufacturing.
  • Designs or assist in designing jigs, fixtures, tooling, and special production equipment required to meet customer specifications as needed.
  • Review, assess, and process TCO’s including identifying changes and flow down of modified requirements.
  • Create detailed vendor and outside service prints including masking requirements and racking locations.
  • Initiate creation of In-process inspection sheets.
  • Create In-process prints and work instructions.
  • Audit initial runs to verify accuracy of routing steps, rates, and capability of process.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school education required, plus at least 2 years of technical training in manufacturing. 4-year engineering degree, or equivalent industry work experience required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of machining processes, tool and fixture design, time standards, and machine center capabilities. Engineering principals, tools, and concepts. Project management principles (i.e., Work Breakdown Structure, Gantt charting, critical path management, etc.)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience preferred in SolidWorks, MasterCAM, or equivalent CAD/CAM software. Proficient with Microsoft software ERP system. 

SKILLS/ ABILITIES: Demonstrated examples of initiative and velocity in completing work; including leading small cross-functional projects that span multiple MultiSource sites. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with a wide variety of manufacturing personnel and others at all levels.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:  Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. 
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
