Description

Position Summary

This position will lower the cost component of manufacturing by leading, planning, directing, and coordinating process improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and efficiency, while supporting operations in all areas of boat manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluate and revise processes to generate cost savings and improve safety, equipment reliability, product quality and throughput efficiency.
Design, evaluate and improve process flow throughout manufacturing
Research, develop and implement new processes, equipment, and procedures for manufacturing
Develop, justify, and implement capital expenditure projects from concept to completion
Document and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and time observations of production processes
Lead and mentor production supervisors and employees to solve quality issues and continuous improvement initiatives
Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizen Events)
Participate in quality audits and production startup meetings
Participate in design reviews to improve product manufacturability
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 4 year degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering; 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers. Ability to lead cross functional teams.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Qualifications: Ability to use MS Office and CAD Systems; Proven ability to lead Kaizen events
