Job Overview:

About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our team at our facility in Buford, GA. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing our manufacturing processes and ensuring the highest level of quality control. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements, analyze data, and identify root causes of issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process development, quality control, and lean manufacturing principles.

This is a “hands-on” position that will require 75-80% of work to be performed on the manufacturing floor.

Pay: $90K - $110K per year (plus annual bonus potential)

Here's what we need:

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in twin-screw extrusion of engineered thermoplastics with PA6 and PA66 (not profile extrusion – must be extrusion of compounds/pellets downstream for injection molding customers)

Here is what you will do:

  • Care to Be Safe in all activities throughout the plant, working with Plant Engineering and HSE Coordinator in all aspects of safety education, safety improvements, and KPI tracking and reporting.

  • Interact with maintenance and plant engineering teams regarding, feeder design, calibration and maintenance, screw design (both feeder and extruder screws), and down-stream equipment performance (pelletizers and pack-out equipment)

  • Perform production tests to evaluate the product quality, run capacity, cost, and impact on the performance of the plant

  • Propose solutions for internal and external customer demands and complaints

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

  • Support and advice staff in the resolution of complex problems

  • Continuously research innovative approaches and solutions; develop proposals for process improvement programs.

  • Develop and implement process improvement programs

  • Coordinate and follow up plant process improvement projects

  • Execute studies regarding plant performance, production capacity utilization, and the effectiveness of process improvement projects.

  • Compile documents and data including technical, technological, or process information; prepare process guides and reports

  • Analyze and define modifications to production process required to produce new product

  • Develop and implement MOC processes for new materials and processes to confirm all production personnel are properly trained

  • Perform other departmental tasks as needed

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree (preferably in Chemistry or Process Technology)
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience in process engineering of thermoplastic PA6 & PA66 compounds

OTHER MUST HAVES…

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be fluent in English (Spanish fluency is a plus)
  • High-level operations analysis skills
  • Expertise in quality control data analysis
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies
  • Strong MS Office and standard documentation skills
  • Strong mathematical skills, able to accurately calculate figures and amounts.
  • Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are a must.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to foster a team-centric relationship with cross-departmental colleagues
  • Dependable with good attendance record
