Who will you be working with?

Railroad Friction Products Corporation designs and manufactures Cobra high-friction and low-friction composition brake shoes, specialty shoes, and disc brake linings for freight, locomotive and transit vehicles.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Railroad Friction Products group/division, you will conduct process control audits of production facilities assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved by utilizing in-depth knowledge of company products and programs as well as working with team members within the Quality Assurance Department. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

What do we want to know about you?

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of prior process control/quality assurance experience (or similar job) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Use of calipers, micrometers, height gages, rheometer, and other similar equipment/tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, diagrams, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret calculations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment and as a team player.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Oracle and statistical software.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Follow all company established safety and employment rules.
  • Understand and apply LEAN methodologies and tools during daily functions.
  • Examine material or product for defects and verify specified dimensions of product.
  • Verify correct process parameters and standard work are being followed within facility operations.
  • Select products for test at specified stages in production process, and test for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
  • Reject defective parts, and properly quarantine parts to prevent un-intentional use.
  • Operate any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job.
  • Calibration support of instruments and gages
  • Input data of quality test results and/or reports into computer.
  • Train production personnel for molding, mixing or plate prep certification.
  • Cross-Train on all Process Control/Quality Assurance functions.
  • Maintain 7S Area of responsibility.
  • Regular on-site attendance is required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, lift, climb, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms above shoulder heights, below the waist and/or lift.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat (non-weather).
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
