Job Summary

The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As a Process Assurance Engineer with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.

Job Description

The Process Assurance Engineer is responsible for defining the product development processes for System, HW and FW in accordance with applicable aeronautical regulations: ARP-4754A, DO-254 and DO-178C. It is also responsible to provide training for the product engineers about the defined development processes. The engineer is responsible for conducting internal audits and for supporting audits from customers and authorities. On this position the candidate will work in a collaborative cross-functional environment for the development of an Electric Propulsion Unit.

Qualified candidates must have knowledge of the following.

  • Definition of system development process and related documentation in accordance with ARP-4754A
  • Definition of electronic hardware development process and related documentation in accordance with DO-254
  • Definition of software development process and related documentation in accordance with DO-178 and DO-331
  • Definition of Cyber Security related processes.
  • Analysis and approval of development process documents provided by HW, FW and SW suppliers.
  • Provide training to the team about process assurance standards and defined development processes.
  • Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with defined processes.
  • Support external audits from customers and authorities concerning development processes.

Technical Attributes and Experience

  • Experience in new product development and phase-gate processes
  • Experience in development of electromechanical propulsion systems or electromechanical actuation systems
  • Experience with development of electronic controllers for safety critical applications
  • Experience in requirements based development
  • Experience with ARP-4754A, DO-254, DO178C and DO-331
  • Experience with Cyber-Security methods applicable to commercial aviation
  • Experience with airworthiness certification requirements
  • Experience with IBM DOORS or JAMA
  • Willingness to work with, and travel to, domestic and international design and manufacturing locations when necessary

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with power electronics and motor control

Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field
  • 7 years of experience in motor control / modelling
