Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the plant production machinery, service equipment and physical building systems. Including but not limited to electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.

Schedule1st shift, Monday-Friday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, or similar. Training may occur at other times. 

Salary Range: $26.00 To 34.00 Hourly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Responsible for all equipment and machinery and its continued upkeep within the company
  • Coordinates with contractors for inside and outside projects on company grounds
  • Maintains, develops and updates maintenance schedule for all machinery and facility equipment
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems in communication with outside suppliers
  • Obtains quotes on all new equipment purchases along with purchasing involved
  • Responsible for cataloging and maintaining supplier sources for equipment and parts
  • Troubleshoots motor control circuits, drives, and PLC systems
  • Performs electronic component replacement, substitution, set-up and calibration
  • Performs or schedules OEM techs to perform routine PM’s, repairs, rebuilds and modifications on all equipment assigned
  • Observes equipment to make sure it is operating to OEM standard or production satisfaction
  • Performs repairs/adjustments on electrically controlled equipment as required
  • Monitors equipment performance during production start-up, changeovers, and new installs
  • Provides feedback for repairs needed during non-producing shifts
  • Sources and orders parts as needed
  • Maintain part and tool inventory levels and keeps the storage area organized
  • Completes any necessary paperwork associated with repairs or calibration
  • Performs upgrades or changes to equipment if needed
  • Reports back to the Plant Manager for further assignments
  • Substitutes electrical components parts as needed or required
  • Provides coverage and or assistance as needed throughout facility to meet production schedules and or equipment needs
  • Must be able to work with all levels of management
  • Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvements
  • Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed
  • Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free workplace
  • Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested
  • Basic janitorial duties
  • Help lead safety program with Plant Manager, maintain SDS, and dispose of hazardous waste
  • Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
  • Regularly perform general housekeeping duties in your work area(s)
  • Adhere to all safety policies and protocols and maintain a safe working environment
  • Attend all department/company meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years related field experience diagnosing and troubleshooting basic electrical problems using diagrams or blueprints
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years related field experience maintaining electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems
  • Minimum two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage wiring, capability of identifying and qualifying single phase as well as three phase power requirements
  • Ability to operate a gas and electrical forklifts
  • Ability to work flexible, extended hours and weekends as required for business needs
