The Design Quality Assurance group (DQA) is looking for an experienced engineering professional who is interested in using their technical skills and experience to improve Collins Aerospace design methods and mentor engineering teams. As a DQA team member, you would help ensure new product designs meet or exceed requirements, engineering "best practices" are followed, customer and regulatory agency requirements are understood and met, and defects are identified and eliminated prior to transition to production.

In this role, the ideal candidate will be capable of advising project teams and leadership of design quality trends and systemic issues, working with organizations to investigate issues, understanding and leading efforts to determine root cause of design issues, and providing recommended corrective actions as needed to achieve design and development objectives for high quality designs. This position requires the applicant to have a thorough understanding of, and demonstrated experience in engineering design and development process and methods, industry standards and regulations, requirements analysis and capture, integration, test, and engineering documentation for certification.

This role will be worked onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. Relocation assistance is available.

What You Will Do:

Assure new developments meet customer, company, DO-178, and regulatory requirements as applicable.
Throughout the development lifecycle processes, audit and assess engineering teams regarding compliance to Quality and regulatory requirements in order to ensure problem-free product(s) are delivered.
Employ Quality-related tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Variation Reduction, Key Characteristics, etc. as appropriate. Analyze project data for trends and systemic issues - recommend corrective action.
Assist transition to production to ensuring D&D related quality issues are resolved, documented, and communicated to production.
Ensure effective and appropriate project process tailoring and approvals.
Ensure plans incorporate latest lessons learned.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Experience with software development and the associated processes
Experience in the engineering development lifecycle(s)

Qualifications We Prefer:

Working knowledge of the aerospace industry, manufacturing, and system development and the associated processes
Experience working with regulatory agencies (aerospace, pharma, medical devices, finance, healthcare, energy, etc.)
Experience leading or mentoring a team

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
