Summary
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will serve as a senior individual contributor and technical leader responsible for solving complex technology challenges, shaping solution architecture, and helping teams deliver high-quality enterprise software.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills. You will navigate ambiguity, build alignment around difficult technical decisions, communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences, and make the engineers and teams around you more effective.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the architecture, design, and development of complex enterprise applications and platforms using Azure, .NET, C#, SQL, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Lead the design of scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions that support long-term business and technology objectives.
- Drive complex technical initiatives to successful outcomes, working through ambiguity, identifying tradeoffs, building alignment, making or recommending decisions, and maintaining momentum through implementation.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to engineering teams, technology leaders, Product Managers, and business stakeholders.
- Promote software engineering standards, architectural patterns, development practices, and technology approaches that improve quality and consistency across teams.
- Provide technical guidance on the organization’s most complex software engineering challenges, including application architecture, integrations, performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Mentor and coach engineers across teams, proactively share knowledge, review designs and technical approaches, and help grow the technical capabilities of the broader engineering organization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and development practices and provide recommendations on where they can create meaningful value for the organization.
Job Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant experience designing and delivering complex enterprise software solutions.
- Deep technical expertise with C#, .NET, Microsoft Azure, and SQL Server.
- Extensive experience with software architecture, solution design, design patterns, distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and enterprise application development.
- Experience designing scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable systems within a large enterprise environment.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives from initial problem definition and architecture through implementation and successful delivery.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and the ability to make thoughtful architectural and technology decisions based on business requirements, technical constraints, risk, and long-term maintainability.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills with a track record of developing engineers, sharing knowledge, and improving the effectiveness of technical teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts, decisions, risks, and tradeoffs to both technical and business audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous technical challenges.

This position pays $175,000-185,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by factors including the candidate’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, and location.
