We are looking for an experienced and motivated candidate to serve as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer overseeing our virtual facility designs and capacity optimization within our factories. The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical leadership for the optimization of manufacturing capacities and capabilities within Oshkosh Vocational. Key projects consist of the integration of lean manufacturing principles and new production technologies with simulation models to design and manage our global footprint in three dimensions. This is a crucial role in our future manufacturing strategy as we look to gain efficiencies within our product lines and manufacturing processes.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Lead and participate in long range enterprise capacity planning.
  • Lead and provide support for the justification and selection of major capital equipment.
  • Identify new manufacturing technologies and innovation that provide additional capability within the factories.
  • Ensure that manufacturing factories are optimally designed and located to support the customer.
  • Perform a wide variety of investigative and analytical studies for optimizing global capacities and capabilities.
  • Support competitive manufacturing analysis to ensure products are being manufactured in the right location.
  • Create business case to justify new manufacturing processes and implement on global scale.
  • Manage and coordinate resources to drive manufacturing projects that support the global manufacturing strategy.
  • Collaborate with other manufacturing departments such as quality, materials, EHS, and facilities.
  • Apply project management skills (scope, schedule, cost) and coordination of internal and external resources to execute projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Support know-how transfer and maturity of overall plant knowledge of technology, adoption of new technologies, and ensure factories in the regions have the best access to the latest technological thinking and possible solutions.
  • Strong knowledge in optimizing layouts and material flow based on lean principles.
  • Support virtual manufacturing strategy through simulation of future state models for increased throughput, and capacity utilization.
  • Use data-driven methodology to validate results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and 5+ years related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in or lead a cross-functional team.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to manage a project by delivering scope, cost and schedule.
  • Capable of working in a collaborative and team focused environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes – cutting, bending, machining, welding, coating, assembly.
  • Able to evaluate processes based on lean principles.
  • Proficient in layout optimizing software.
  • Time management and problem-solving skills.

Pay Range:

$91,800.00 - $153,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
