Job Overview:

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Principal Manufacturing Engineer at MKS Instruments, you will partner with manufacturing sites, engineering, and internal teams across all aspects of operations to develop and support new and existing laser products throughout their product lifecycles. In this role, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Collaborating in developing manufacturing strategies for specific products and taking the lead role in implementing these strategies at manufacturing sites
  • Analyzing, developing plans for, and implementing manufacturing engineering projects at manufacturing sites and with manufacturing partners
  • Working with Sustaining Engineers, New Product Introduction Engineers, and Production during the transition and release of new products
  • Maintaining, monitoring, and improving operational method sheets, routings, and associated processes
  • Reviewing and updating manufacturing costs, determining time standards, and recommending tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines
  • Leading or participating in Lean/Kaizen teams proactively
  • Developing and implementing continuous improvement programs to reduce costs, improve quality, yield, and delivery performance for both new and existing products
  • Promoting high standards of workmanship as defined by documentation while maintaining safety and proper clean room procedures
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 25 % of travel may be required

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or higher
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and the analysis of technical datasets is a plus
  • Solid Laser and optical systems knowledge of manufacturing processes and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and manage tasks across departments
  • Enthusiasm for Lean principles in a manufacturing environment
  • A positive mindset in a dynamic environment

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Self-management of activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.
  • Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level.
  • Operates in a professional office and clean room laboratory/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards, including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually average without loud impact noise.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range: $111,900 to 207,900 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
